What is MapmyIndia?
MapmyIndia is India’s first online Map-based portal that allows users to search for almost any location/landmark in India, find maps and driving directions between any two locations in India.

What is the Map Coverage in MapmyIndia?

MapmyIndia provides:

Map coverage, which encompasses the length and breadth of India covering over 6,20,000 villages on highly detailed, interactive maps of India, also including street-level City Maps for over 150 Indian cities. Users can search a location showing major destinations, points of interests like hotels, airports, pilgrim places, etc., towns and villages, roads and highways all across the nation; colonies and streets of almost all major towns and cities of India; map and directions between two addresses and/or places anywhere in India.

Tip: You can zoom in from the Country Level (Level 12) to Street Level (Level 1) or to the ultra street level (level 0) for          Points of Interests/ Locations in the major towns and cities.

Find a Location/Place of Interest
With MapmyIndia maps you can find places anywhere in India. You can search any Location or Landmark on the map, such as a street, locality, airport, Hill Station or a monument. B.R. Ambedkar Road, Malviya Nagar, Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Nainital, and the Gateway of India are some of the examples of searches that can be made.To find a Place/Point Of Interest, under SEARCH A LOCATION, Enter PLACE/COLONY/STREET, CITY/TOWN, STATE in the appropriate input boxes available on homepage:
• Type as much of the address information as you have into the appropriate boxes, separated by commas.
• Please add the city name at the end.
• Click Get Map.

Search Tips
• Use comma (,) to separate parts of the address
• Please add city name at the end

Notes
• If the place you want to find is unique, you won't need to select it in the results list. It will automatically appear on the    map.
• The place will be highlighted by a shield and will be centered on the map.

Find Route Maps/Driving Directions between two locations
MapmyIndia provides Driving Directions between any two locations in India. It also provides Driving Directions between any two locations across the country.

Tip
• Users do not need to Register with MapmyIndia to get step-by step driving directions.

Notes
• Route Maps i.e. the map between two locations is available to all our users (Basic Users).
• The distance between the two locations will be displayed on the left panel.
• Shields on the map will highlight the two points as Start and End locations.

Search Point of Interests/Landmarks falling under Defined Categories on map
• Under Category Local Search, click on any of the major categories like “HISTORICAL PLACES", “COMMUNITY   SERVICES“, etc. available on top panel of the map-page.
• Select the category of your Interest to locate the corresponding Landmarks on the map.

Notes
• Numbered shields on the map will highlight the points, which belong to the category.The names and other details of   these points will be displaid numberwise on the left panel.

Know the Tools for working with the Map (Moving around with the map)

ZOOM IN & OUT –Map tool that allows you to see map of any location at different levels, from ultra-street (level 0) to city (level 6) to country level (level 12).
For eg. You can see Gateway of India in a country map (India) as well as in a city map of Mumbai.

A zoom bar is available to the left side of the map-frame that allows you to see the map then available on map-page at different levels from Level 0 to Level 12

Zoom in decreases actual area covered on map but increases the map depth and detail.

Zoom out increases the actual area covered on map but decreases the map depth and detail.
